Timothy J. Plaisier

Tim was raised in Spring Lake, Michigan and graduated from Western Michigan Christian High School. He attended Ferris State University, graduating with an Associate's degree in architecture and a Bachelor's degree in facilities management. After working in the truss design and engineered lumber industry for sixteen years, he felt called to take a new career path in funeral service. Tim worked for Sytsema Funeral Homes in Muskegon, Michigan. During this time he attended Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Wheeling, Illinois and in August of 2013, purchased Pederson Funeral Home. He has been married to his wonderful wife Tonya for over twenty-seven years.  Together they have three sons, William who is married to Kristina, as well as Andrew and Daniel.

Brandon M. Poortenga

Brandon was born and raised in Colon, Michigan. He graduated and earned degrees from both Ferris State University and Worsham College of Mortuary Science. While attending Mortuary College, Brandon worked as a student associate for Cumberland Chapels in Norridge, Illinois. Brandon served his apprenticeship at Pederson Funeral Home. In 2021, Brandon partnered with Tim Plaisier and Tim Valk and created Plaisier-Poortenga-Valk Funeral & Cremation Services, LLC. Together they own Howard City Funeral Home and North Ridge Funeral Home. Outside of work, Brandon enjoys hiking, biking, running and spending time outdoors with his wife Kaity and their adopted greyhound Ariel.

Tim is a graduate of Calvin College and also earned a Mortuary Science Degree from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Decatur, Georgia. He has been a licensed funeral director in West Michigan since 1994.  He and his wife Amy have been married for 28 years and have two sons and a daughter.  

As well as being a Funeral and Cremation Services Director, Tim also serves as a Prearrangement & Advance Planning Director at all of the funeral home locations.

Megan has always had a kind heart and an undeniable magnetism to serve. She originally started her college academia to be a teacher but felt that God pulled her in another direction: the funeral service profession. Megan started at Harry J Will Funeral Homes in 2011, earned a bachelor’s degree in Mortuary Science from Wayne State University in 2016 and became a Licensed Funeral Director. Skilled at walking people through the trying experiences of grief and loss, Megan helps honor loved ones by crafting personalized services and arranging special tributes. Originally from Farmington, MI, Megan currently lives in Grand Rapids with her husband, Joe. When she’s off the clock, you can find Megan hanging out with her family, trying new restaurants with Joe, hiking and reading.

Joseph R. Greenfield

After more than a decade successfully working as a management consultant in defense, and IT strategy, Joseph recalibrated after feeling called to serve and changed directions in his professional life, focusing his efforts on funeral service. He began his funeral service work alongside wife, Megan, at Reyers North Valley Chapel. He is currently pursuing a degree in Mortuary Science at John A. Gupton College and is a Licensed Funeral Director Resident Trainee at Plaiser-Poortenga-Valk and Plaisier Funeral homes. During a time that is often sorrowful, uncomfortable, and complicated, Joe personalizes each service with grace, tact, and compassion. Originally from Plymouth, MI, Joe is currently living in Grand Rapids with his wife, Megan. When he’s not on the job, you can find him on the hockey rink or spending time with his family.

Bradley King

Brad was born June 30, 1955 in Muskegon, Michigan. He graduated from Mona Shores High School in 1973 and attended Muskegon Community College. Brad completed his formal Mortuary Science Education in Chicago, IL at Worsham College of Mortuary Science, where he graduated in 1979. Upon successful completion of National Conference Board Examination and the State of Michigan Mortuary Science Licensing Exam, Brad obtained his Michigan Mortuary Science License in 1979. Having successfully owned and operated two funeral homes, Brad retired in 2017 and returned to Muskegon, with his wife Rita. Brad joined our staff in 2020 as a Senior Funeral Director. Brad brings over 42 years of funeral directing experience, while continuing to serve families in Rockford, Grant, Newaygo and Howard City, Michigan.

David L. Germain

David grew up in Port Huron, Michigan. He attended Xavier University and the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. David is also a veteran of service in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict. He formerly owned the Germain Funeral Home in Howard City, Michigan, where he currently resides. David has been a licensed funeral director for more than fifty years and has been with Pederson Funeral Home for over fifteen years. David has two grown children, five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren of whom he is immensely proud. Also, two adopted cats Liam and Lancelot who happen to be brothers.

Tammy has lived her entire life in Grant.  Before coming to work at Fields-McKinley Funeral Homes five years ago, she worked as a banker. She has three sons and two grandchildren.

Hi I am the Office Manager for Pederson Funeral Home. I have worked for Tim Plaisier for 4 years. Before Pederson Funeral Home I worked 29 years for Fifth Third Bank FKA Old Kent Bank in various positions. I have been married for almost 31 years to the love of my life, Karl. And, we live in Sparta, MI. We have one grown son, who is married to a lovely ginger girl. We are also adoptive parents to a furry guy we call Pete Pete.
